What do you desire?

Often I like to turn on old favorite movies or shows that I can easily multitask or work to. Tonight it was Harry Potter. I got caught on the Mirror of Erised. Where desire is spelled backwards. And it got me thinking… Do you know what you desire? Like deep down, soul-level, DESIRE?

Imagine you were to look into a mirror that showed you your deepest, most desperate desires. Straight from down in that bursting heart of yours. I feel like that’s really something to think about!

Harry deeply desires to have his family back–to know the mom and dad he lost as a baby. Ron sees him decked out in all the best Hogwarts ways with high honors. Dumbledore? A pair of socks… Or so he says. I still think he sees something similar to Harry in terms of family.

But, what do you think would show up for you in the Mirror of Erised? Meditate on that for a bit. Or forever! It’s a great thing to consider.

Our souls speak our deepest desires to us through what lights us up and feels expansive.

We desire what we desire for a reason. There are many things you could want or desire (desire is a much stronger word). You could want to bring something to fruition in our life, yearn to be heard, seen, understood, want something that you once lost, or simply want to find happiness or your passion.

Those desires that come straight from our heart of hearts…
And because we desire them, we are meant to have them.

Those desires are dying to get through to us, because I don’t think many of us know what we truly want. A lot of us ignore that little voice and yearning inside of us for something more.

Comfort. Stability. Security. Fortune. Family. All good things in their own right.

Our souls might be wanting something different. Something even deeper and bigger than we expect. Something that makes us feel love in ways we can’t even imagine.

I’m thinking it’s time to listen to our soul’s desires a little bit more than our physical or emotional wants. Listen to what’s inside rather than what the world is telling you.

Sit with yourself.
Journal it out.
Feel the feelings of it.
Imagine what the best-case scenario would be when you have what you truly want.

You may surprise yourself.

What do you desire in your life right now?
